VCam for Mac: Latest Fixes and Improvements in v2.0.69

We're excited to roll out the latest version of VCam for Mac, just two months after our last update. This release tackles core issues, improves stability, and adds quality of life enhancements, all while expanding the feature set to bring us closer to a full release. Here’s a rundown of all that’s new!

Features & Improvements:

  • Re-added support for GIF backgrounds

  • Major improvements with frame handling for improved performance

  • Improved virtual camera initialization and connection — used by VCam to send a feed to your client apps

  • Improved handling of backgrounds —

  • Newly added backgrounds and logos logo will be set as active

  • Deleting the active background will change the background to “Remove”

  • Deleting the active logo will change the logo to “None”

  • Default background or logo is now indicated by a star icon within the thumbnail

  • Improved the default Workspace selection logic to prioritize paid Workspaces

  • Content loader is now displayed for backgrounds/logos that are still downloading on a fresh app launch

  • After installation or update, VCam will now automatically launch

  • Updated logic for detecting if virtual camera needs updating

  • Renamed macOS app name from VCam.ai.app to VCam

Fixes:

  • Addressed additional fixes for white screen crashing when connecting/disconnecting to a client

  • Fixed an issue where the camera feed may change to a different camera when added to a client

  • Fixed an issue where you could not select “Set as default background/logo” when uploading a new background or logo

  • Upon login, background/logo will now correctly use the default background or logo

  • Auto framing settings are now correctly applied on app launch

  • Camera mixer will now consume the entire container space

  • Fixed an issue where video backgrounds would not always show

  • Various bug fixes for low level errors in the virtual camera module

  • Virtual camera extension updates now require a system reboot to ensure complete installation

Known issues:

  • The update process leaves a lot to be desired; in-app updating with changelog will be available in a future full release

  • We are still investigating some cases of the application crashing to a white screen state — please restart the application if this happens

  • After installation or update, you may see an empty black video feed within your meeting app — please restart both VCam and your client app if this happens
